Youth Center Safety Rules:
Digital enhancements on board The Encore
Though I wasn't initially hired for a design role, my proactive and innovative approach as a youth counselor led me to utilize my design and UX background to enhance processes within the youth center onboard Norwegian Cruise Line's newest ship, The Encore.
Teaming up with another counselor, I identified a valuable opportunity to leverage technology for improved safety procedures and communication within the center. Recognizing the abundance of TVs and resources available, we conceived the idea of presenting safety rules in a visually engaging manner on these screens.
This approach allowed kids and parents to easily access and absorb essential safety guidelines related to activities, interactions, and being inside the center.
To execute our vision, we created detailed drawings and informative slides, presenting the safety rules in a clear and visually appealing format. Our materials were thoughtfully presented to management and received approval for implementation throughout the center. The introduction of this new system was met with enthusiasm from both kids and parents, demonstrating its effectiveness in communicating the importance of safety.
Moreover, this project showcased environmental benefits by significantly reducing paper waste and optimizing resource utilization.
As a youth counselor, my initiative and problem-solving skills empowered me to step beyond my designated role, leveraging my design and UX expertise to make a meaningful impact. This successful implementation highlights my ability to bridge diverse skills, enhancing processes, and creating positive improvements in the youth center's operations.
